Renovations at the City of Gainesville Administrative Building are in the final stages and slated to continue next week with the demolition of the first floor.

According to Gainesville Public Relations Manager Christina Santee, the Gainesville Finance Department has already relocated to the second floor in suite 201 – its new permanent headquarters.

To allow for the demo, the south entrance of the admin building – the entrance facing Jesse Jewell Parkway – will close to the public effective Tuesday, Jan. 21. Gainesville’s administrative offices will be closed Monday, Jan. 20, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

"Once the south entrance closes, the public will be required to use the north entrance, located on the opposite end of the building closest to the Hall County Courthouse," Santee said.  "Visitors will also be encouraged to use the nearest parking deck for quick access, and signage will be erected in the immediate area directing them accordingly."

At this time, the south entrance is expected to remain closed through September, though all other floors will be accessible via the north entrance.
