Construction activity for the I-85 widening project will require lane closures next week along the corridor in Gwinnett, Barrow and Jackson counties, according to information released Monday by the Georgia Department of Transportation.
Beginning Sunday night through Friday night, bridge construction operations at the Flowery Branch Road overpass in Gwinnett County will mean lane closures on I-85 southbound from SR 11 in Barrow County to Spout Springs Road in Gwinnett County. A single-lane closure will be in place from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. and a double-lane closure from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday nights. On Friday night a single-lane closure will be in place from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. and a double-lane closure in place from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
In addition, GDOT sais overhead sign installations will necessitate lane closures on Sunday night on I-85 northbound from Flowery Branch Road to SR 211. A single-lane closure will be in place from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. and a double-lane closure from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Single-lane closures will be required Monday night on I-85 southbound from Jesse Cronic Road in Jackson County to SR 211, Tuesday night on I-85 northbound from Jesse Cronic Road to SR 53 in Jackson County, and I-85 southbound from SR 60 to SR 53 in Jackson County Wednesday through Friday nights.
Work for each activity will occur from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday nights and 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. Friday night.
Northbound traffic pacing operations will occur from Hamilton Mill Road to SR 211 on Sunday night and from SR 211 to SR 53 on Tuesday night. Southbound traffic pacing will occur from SR 211 to Flowery Branch Road Monday through Friday night, from SR 53 to SR 211 on Monday night and from SR 60 to SR 53 on Wednesday through Friday nights. All traffic pacing operations will occur from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly.
