As the search continues for the suspect who shot and killed a retired Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office deputy this week, the FBI is offering a reward in an effort to find the shooter.

The agency announced Friday a reward of $15,000 for information that leads to the arrest of the suspect in the Wednesday night shooting death of Felix Cosme. The 63-year-old Cosme, who was working at O'Reilly Auto Parts on Hamilton Mill Road, was shot as he tried to pull his own weapon during an armed robbery at the business.

The suspect, described by the Gwinnett County Police Department only as a black male, fled from the business after the shooting, driving toward I-85.

Gwinnett County police said the FBI reward money is separate from the award offered by Atlanta Crime Stoppers. Tipsters who have information can call the FBI at (770) 216-3000.

Meanwhile, funeral services for Cosme, an 11-year employee of GCSO, are scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 12 in the Buford Chapel of Crowell Brothers Funeral Home at 201 Morningside Drive. Cosme will be buried at Alta Vista Cemetery in Gainesville.

During his career, Cosme also worked for the Macon Police Department, the Charleston Police Department and the Newburg New York Police Department. Cosme began his law enforcement career in 1979.
