Gasoline prices continued an upward trend in Georgia compared to a week ago.

"The majority of states saw gas prices increase in the last week – some by as much as a nickel to a dime,” said Montrae Waiters, spokeswoman for AAA – The Auto Club Group. "Americans may be concerned that this is due to the conflict in the Middle East, but at this time it is just too early to speculate. The impact to consumers will be dependent on how expensive crude oil price goes and the duration at which crude sells at the higher price point in the market.”

Georgia motorists are now paying an average price of $2.46 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline. Monday's state average is 4-cents more than a week ago, 3-cents more than last month, and 41-cents more than this time last year.

It now costs $36.90 to fill a 15-gallon tank of gasoline. That's $5.70 less than what motorists paid in May of 2018, when pump prices hit their peak of $2.84 per gallon.

National Average

Today’s national average is $2.58, which is 1-cent more than last week, 1-cent less than last month, and 34-cents more than this time last year.
