GAINESVILLE — The North Hall girls used a 22-6 third quarter run to erase a halftime deficit en route to a 46-40 win over Lumpkin County Friday night in a key Region 7-3A battle.
The Trojans (12-4, 3-2 Region 7-3A) ran their win streak to six with victory and used a tremendous defensive effort. They held Lumpkin County to just 14 second half points.
It nearly turned into a personal showdown between the Trojans’ Ansley Smallwood and Lumpkin County’s Isabel Davenport.
Smallwood scored 20 points to pace North Hall while Davenport poured in 26 points for the Indians (10-7, 2-4 Region 7-3A).
North Hall led 13-10 after the first quarter but Davenport led a big second quarter Lumpkin County run as the Indians took a 26-19 halftime lead. But the Trojans answered in the third quarter with their big run to take a 41-32 advantage into the fourth quarter.
Rylee McCall had 8 points for North Hall. After Davenport, no one scored more than six points for Lumpkin County.
LANIER CHRISTIAN 65,
FIDELES CHRISTIAN 23
The Lightning Fideles Christian School to six points or less in every quarter in taking a win at home Friday night.
LCA (7-2) led 16-9 after the first quarter and then outscored Fideles 49-14 the rest of the way.
Faith Wasden paced the Lightning with 21 points. Ashley Avery added 20 points and Reece Montgomery 11 points for LCA. Hollie Beussee had 8 points.
Fideles Christian was led by Savannah Smith with 10 points.
LCA will be back in action on Tuesday at home against Young Americans Christian School.

HABERSHAM CENTRAL 53
Gainesville (6-8, 1-0 Region 8-6A) trailed 19-13 after the first quarter but held the Raiders (8-7, 0-1 Region 8-6A) to just 22 points over the next two quarters to take a 44-41 lead into the final period. The Red Elephants held off several charges in the final minutes.
Freshmen Zaria Williams had 22 points to lead Gainesville. Junior Lauren Teasley had 18 points and junior Sadie Roach added 11 for the Red Elephants, who return to action at 4 p.m. Saturday traveling to Dacula in another big region showdown.
CHESTATEE 61,
BLESSED TRINITY 49
Chestatee evened its Region 7-4A record with a big home win over the Titans Friday night.
Emma Easterwood and Maggie McNair both poured in 19 points to lead the War Eagles (8-8, 3-3 Region 7-4A). Danielle Bull chipped in 8 and Logan Wiggins had 7 for Chestatee.
Blessed Trinity fell to 4-9, 0-5 in Region 7-4A play with the loss.
Chestatee next will play host to Cherokee Bluff on Saturday. Tip-off is slated for 4 pm.
