Hall County is once again applying for a $50,000 grant that would go towards pharmaceuticals and vaccines for the county's animal shelter.
Hall County Financial Services Director Zach Propes said Monday that the county has applied for the grant from Petco Animal Welfare Organization before.
"We think we have a better chance this time due to the implementation of the community cat program," Propes said after Monday's commission work session.
The community cat program was part of a larger overhaul of the county's animal shelter that was approved after a presentation by Best Friends Animal Society of Georgia in February of this year.
Propes said the grant, if awarded, would be a big benefit to the Hall County Animal Shelter. The county would not need to match any of the money awarded in the grant.
"I can tell you that $50,000 would go a long way to help meet that need," Propes said.
Hall County Commissioners approved the application for the grant as part of their Thursday consent agenda.
