A sewage spill in Forsyth County last week sent more than 17,000 gallons of wastewater into a tributary of Dick Creek.

County officials reported Friday that the spill occurred at 7450 St. Marlo Country Club Parkway in Duluth.

The main cause was determined to be household debris, including paper towels and rags.

The Forsyth County Department of Water and Sewer was notified at 11:40 a.m. on Thursday and the overflow was stopped at 1:48 p.m., according to an email detailing what happened. The spill was approximately 17,490 gallons.
