GAINESVILLE — The Chestatee volleyball team beat Cherokee Bluff in straight sets on Senior Night.
Senior Chloe Riley helped set the tone with her aggressive, scrappy play at the service line in the first set, pushing the War Eagles to a win, 25-18. In the second ed, Gwyneth Thomas racked up six digs to lift Chestatee to a 17-9 lead. Senior setter Maggie McNair ended the match with an ace to earn the second-set win, 25-15. In the third set, Chestatee walked away with a 25-19 win to seal the match.
Senior outside, Lindsey Bornhorst, led the offense with 11 kills and junior MB, Logan Wiggins, followed with 9. Sophomore libero, Arianna Hernandez, led the defense with 13 digs. McNair earned a double-double by running the offense with 31 assists and 12 digs. From the service line, McNair had four aces and senior DS/OH, Chloe Riley, followed with three of her own.
Bluff's Laura Ross had 3 kills and 5 digs. Camille Godfrey scored 10 digs, Madelyn Godfrey had 1 dig, Jaydn Jarrard turned in two aces and 3 digs; Brandyn Peterson had 4 blocks; Finley Millwood had 2 kills and 8 digs; Abby Mcclendon had 1 dig; Tristan Boling turned in 2 kills and 1 dig, Madi Phillips had 2 kills, 1 block and 1 ace; Sydney Johns had 3 kills and Abi Whitaker had 1 kill and 1 block.
West Hall 2, Rabun County 1; West Hall 2, Lumpkin 0 -- West Hall ended the week with a tri-match win over Rabun and Lumpkin counties at home. The Spartans knocked off Rabun County in three sets, winning the third 15-13 to take the match. Against Lumpkin County, West Hall won in straight sets (25-15, 25-20).
Kinsey Wilson had 18 kills and 19 digs. Cadie Shirley had 10 aces, 17 kills and 17 digs. Kaleigh McFarland had 24 digs, and Chloe Radich had 28 assists.
West Hall plays Blessed Trinity and Flowery Branch on Tuesday.
Gainesville 2, Flowery Branch 0; North Hall 2, Flowery Branch 0 -- The Falcons fell to both Gainesville and North Hall in a tri-match at Gainesville on Thursday. Gainesville beat the Falcons, 25-10, 25-20, and North Hall won 25-20 and 25-22.
Senior middle blocker Sierra Lutz, who had 3 kills, 1 ace, and .5 block, and senior outside hitter Katie Williams, who had 7 kills, 1 assist, and 1 block against Gainesville.
Senior outside hitter Katie Williams had 11 kills, sophomore right-side hitter Bri Hall had 6 kills and freshman setter, Liza Thigpen, had 18 assists and 1 ace.
Flowery Branch will finish regular season Region 7-4A play at West Hall on Tuesday.
Lanier Christian 2, Westminster 0; Lanier Christian 2, Gatewood 1 -- The Lightning beat Westminster and Gatewood to sweep the tri-match meet on the road Thursday night. LCA beat Westminster in straight sets, 25-21, 25-16. Ashlyn Browning led the team with 8 kills and 2 blocks. Reagin Clack had 15 digs and Macie Taylor had 9 assists.
Against Gatewood, LCA won the third set, 15-13, to take the match, 2-1. Ashlyn Browning again led the offense with 10 kills, while Brianna Moore contributed 13 assists and 10 digs.
The Lighning are 13-8 overall and 5-1 in the region.
