OAKWOOD — Dawson County extended its lead over West Hall, 34-0, before Mother Nature forced school officials to call the game with 7:19 left in the third quarter.
Because the non-region game had reached the halfway point, the game counts as a win for the Tigers.
The Tigers (3-0) held West Hall (0-3) to 99 yards.
Dawson’s Zack Holtzclaw finished the night 7-of-12 passing for 115 yards and a touchdown, while Shawn Thomas rushed 13 times for 84 yards and two scores.
The Tigers scored 17 points in the opening quarter, including touchdown runs by Thomas and Isaiah Grindle. Caleb Bonesteel booted one of his two field goals in the quarter -- a 27-yard FG.
Thomas scored again the second quarter off a 6-yard run, and Holtzclaw hit Jaden Gibson for a 23-yard TD pass to push the Tigers ahead, 31-0, by halftime.
Bonesteel tacked on his second field of the night from 22 yards out.
Dawson County will host Denmark Friday. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
