GAINESVILLE — North Hall scored five runs in the fifth inning and held on to edge Gainesville, 9-8, Monday at home.
Kristen Dowdy earned the victory for the Trojans, surrendering six runs on eight hits and five strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings of work.
Gainesville scored its three runs in the failed comeback on an error in the sixth, an error in the seventh and a single in the seventh.
Hannah Payne was 4-for-4 at the plate, recording a single in the first, a double in the second, a double in the fourth and a single in the sixth.
Payne started the Trojans' scoring in the first inning off a single.
North Hall will travel to White County on Tuesday. Gainesville visits Winder-Barrow Tuesday.
