The unofficial mascot for the city of Sugar Hill , George The Duck, died this past week.
The city posted on its Facebook page late Thursday evening that someone found George with several injuries.
A veterinarian examined the duck, but he did not survive.
Mayor Steve Edwards told the Gwinnett Daily Post there will be a George The Second and possibly a mate to keep him company.
The city purchased George the duck five years ago to live in a koi pond near the city's downtown district.
