City of Cumming: Castleberry Road closed Monday for installation of sky bridge

Posted 5:30PM on Thursday 5th September 2019 ( 4 years ago )
According to Cumming City officials, a portion of Castleberry Road will be closed Monday.

The road closure will be in effect from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and is necessary due to contractors installing the Cumming Fairgrounds’ new pedestrian sky bridge over Castleberry Road during these hours.

Crystal Ledford Public Information Assistant for the City of Cumming advised that if possible, motorists should try to avoid Anglin Drive to Bank Avenue while this area is being worked on.

"If this is not possible, please be advised that northbound traffic can take a detour by turning left onto Tolbert Street or Anglin Drive (which connects to Tolbert Street), and then following Tolbert Street to West Maple Street," Ledford said.

"For southbound traffic, motorists can take a detour by turning left onto Bank Avenue to Veterans Memorial Blvd. Turn right onto Veterans Memorial Blvd. and stay on Veterans Memorial Blvd. until the intersection with Hwy. 9. Then turn right onto Hwy. 9 and then right again onto Hutchinson Road," she said.

Ledford said once in place, the pedestrian sky bridge will create much safer access to Cumming Fairgrounds’ events and will greatly reduce traffic delays on Castleberry Road resulting from Fairgrounds’ events.
