The University of North Georgia - Dahlonega will once again host the REED Summit later this month.
The Regional Education and Economic Development Summit will focus on business in North Georgia, including logistics and supply chain management, financial technology, cybersecurity and the impact of technology on business in the global marketplace.
In addition to a keynote address by Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan, panel discussions and breakout sessions will take a look at the world of business as well. Topics range from the new inland port in Hall County to the continued expansion of "transaction alley," in which 70% of financial transactions in the U.S. happen through Georgia-based systems.
Businesses and organizations from all over the region will be attending, including Syfan Logistics, the Georgia Department of Economic Development, the North Georgia Technical Institute and Lanier Technical College, with the Northeast Georgia Health Systems as the presenting sponsor.
Executive Director of Government Relations and Economic Development for UNG Ben Jarrard encouraged UNG students to see what opportunities lie ahead, no matter what part of the business world they're interested in.
"With the drive for innovation and fast-changing technology that are hallmarks of today's business environment, it is vital that schools collaborate with industry to provide the education and skills our graduates need to succeed."
UNG previously partnered with the health system for the inaugural summit last year, when it focused on the healthcare industry.
The summit will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Convocation Center. Tickets are $25 for professionals and community members and $10 for high school and college students with ID. Register here.
