PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. --- The Georgia men’s golf team fired a 10-under par 350 on Saturday in the second round of The Carmel Cup and remained in fourth place in the season-opening event.
Playing the Pebble Beach Golf Links’ par-72, 6,828-yard layout, the Bulldogs improved to 6-under 714 for the tournament. Oklahoma has the team lead at 21-under 699, followed by Texas Tech at 19-under 701, and Arkansas at 15-under 705.
Junior Davis Thompson led the Bulldogs on Saturday as he fired a 6-under 66. Senior Spencer Ralston signed for a 3-under 69, followed by senior Calum Masters at 2-under 70, sophomore Trent Phillips at even-par 72, and senior Trevor Phillips at 1-over 73. Senior Will Chandler had the Bulldogs’ non-counting score of 2-over 74.
Thompson stands sixth individually at 6-under 138, just three shy of Oklahoma’s Garett Reband (9-under 135). Ralston and Trent Phillips are seventh at 5-under 139, while Masters landed in 18th at even-par 144. Trevor Phillips is at 10-over 154, followed by Chandler at 11-over 155.
The Bulldogs will tee off in 10-minute increments between 11 and 11:50 a.m. EDT on Sunday and will be paired with Texas Tech, Arkansas, and Oklahoma. Live scoring and pairings can be found at Golfstat.
