Banks County firefighters spent nearly five hours extinguishing a Banks County house fire that claimed the lives of three family pets Friday night.
Units from Banks County Fire/EMS, Lee Arrendale State Prison, with automatic aid from Bold Springs Fire Department in Franklin County, responded to the reported fire at 1633 Wilson Bridge Road, Homer, that was dispatched at 8:21 p.m.
“Upon arrival, units found a 3,000-square-foot, single-family residence fully involved with fire,” said Banks County Fire/EMS Chief Steve Nichols.
The occupants were not home at the time of the fire, and firefighters began a defensive attack from outside the structure, Nichols said.
No injuries were reported.
Nichols said the home was listed as a total loss.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by Banks County Fire Department.
The call was ended at 3:01 a.m.
The American Red Cross along with Board-Up Corp. is assisting the family, Nichols said.
