An Oakwood woman was arrested for making false allegations of a sexual assault Tuesday.
According to the Hall County Sheriff's Office (HCSO), Kaylin Jordan Gonzalez, reported to Sheriff’s Deputies that she had been raped and sexually assaulted by a 27-year-old Gainesville man the morning of Wednesday, August 21. Gonzalez’s allegations led to an investigation that resulted in the man’s arrest on Thursday, August 22.
Gonzalez, 22, was taken into custody on Friday, August 23, after investigators obtained a warrant for her arrest.
According to HCSO Spokesman Derreck Booth, new information came to light during a follow-up interview with Gonzalez on Friday, where Investigators determined her claims to be false.
"The man she had accused was immediately released from the Hall County Jail on his own recognizance with the understanding the charges would be dismissed," he said.
Gonzalez is charged with making false statements and is being held on $5,700 bond.
The case remains under investigation by the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.
