ATLANTA — Atlanta United returns to action Tuesday night when it will play host to Minnesota United FC in the 2019 U.S. Open Cup Final at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

The match is set to kick-off at 8 p.m.

The match marks the first U.S. Open Cup Final appearance for either team. Atlanta’s path to the final included wins against Charleston Battery, Columbus Crew SC, Saint Louis FC and Orlando City SC. Brandon Vazquez leads the team in scoring with four goals in the competition. Atlanta is 15-1-3 across all competitions at home this season.

Minnesota defeated Sporting Kansas City, Houston Dynamo, New Mexico United and Portland Timbers and is led by forward Darwin Quintero, the competition’s leading goal-scorer with six goals in four matches.

This will be the fifth meeting all-time between the clubs and the first in U.S. Open Cup play. Atlanta owns a 3-1-0 record and has outscored the Loons 12-4 combined, including a 3-0 win on May 29 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in the only matchup this season. Franco Escobar scored the game’s first goal before Josef Martinez added a brace in stoppage time.

Martinez has scored in an MLS record 12 straight league matches and is riding a 14-game scoring streak in all competitions dating back to May 24. During the stretch, he has scored 17 goals in MLS play, one goal in Atlanta’s U.S. Open Cup victory against Saint Louis FC July 10 and one goal in Atlanta’s Campeones Cup victory against Club America Aug. 14.
