A Franklin County man was last listed in critical but stable condition in a trauma center after being stabbed multiple times Friday.
Franklin County Sheriff Steve Thomas said deputies were called to a home on Williams Bridge Road, a Toccoa address inside Franklin County, about 1 a.m. Friday.
“Officers, along with Franklin County Emergency Medical Services, arrived on the scene locating a male that had multiple wounds to the upper body,” Thomas said.
The victim was airlifted to an area trauma center.
“Officers on the scene learned that the suspect was still on the property and were able to take the suspect into custody without further incident,” Thomas said.
Investigators conducted interviews of witnesses and executed multiple search warrants for evidence related to the incident.
“Investigators also determined that a child under the age of 16 years was also a victim of the assault,” Thomas said.
Late Friday afternoon, investigators obtained felony warrants for Ray Alvin Goodwin, 35, of Toccoa. Goodwin remains in the Franklin County Detention Center, where he is charged with two counts of felony aggravated assault and cruelty to children.
Goodwin was associated with the victim through other family members and resided on the property, Thomas said.
Goodwin formerly lived in the Carnesville and Canon areas, Thomas said.
