SUGAR HILL — The Flowery Branch girls volleyball team dominated play during the Longhorn Playdate Saturday at Lanier High School.
The Falcons went a perfect 4-0 dropping just one set. They opened the tournament holding off East Hall 25-21, 16-25, 15-8 behind the play of senior outside hitter Katie Williams, who had 9 kills, 3 aces, and 1.5 blocks .Senior middle blocker Sierra Lutz contributed with 4 kills, 1 ace, and 1 block.
Flowery Branch followed with a 25-17, 25-11 win over Clarke Central behind strong serving and defense. Junior outside hitter Madi Sedwick had 3 kills, and 2 aces, freshman setter Liza Thigpen had 2 kills, 4 aces, 9 assists, and a solo block, and sophomore right side Bri Hall added 2 kills and 3 aces.
The Lady Falcons then whipped Oglethorpe County 25-11, 25-13. Senior outside hitter Katie Williams had 14 kills and Lutz had 2 kills, 1 ace, and 2.5 blocks. Flowery Branch finished off the day's sweep beating Rabun County 28-26, 25-21 in a tight battle. Williams had 16 kills, 4 aces, and 1 assist, Lutz had 5 kills, 1 ace, and .5 block, while Thigpen contributed with 20 assists, 2 kills, and 3 aces.
