A dog was killed but authorities say no people were injured in a house fire in Dawson County Saturday afternoon.

The fire was at a home on Price Road near Grant Ford Drive. Dawson County Fire and Emergency Services Chief Danny Thompson said crews were called the scene just after 2:15 p.m.

Thompson said the residents were not in the home at the time of the fire. The only ones in the building were three dogs. One dog died, but Thompson said firefighters were able to rescue two puppies.

He said storms that moved through the area may have played a factor in the blaze.

"We had a good bit of lightning roll through during the same time as this fire. It's still under investigation, but we do believe this may be weather-related," Thompson said. "That's unconfirmed currently."

The scene had one lane of Price Road shut down for several hours.
