*Lavonia is one of 16 places in Georgia that will share in more than $76 million in state-financed low-interest loans for infrastructure improvements. Lavonia is getting $2.2 million to finance an upgrade to its sewerage system and wastewater treatment facility.
*Three University of North Georgia students will have their education paid for plus an internship and a guaranteed job upon graduation thanks to the Department of Defense Cyber Scholarship program. More than 400 students applied and 96 were awarded scholarships. According to a UNG news release, because of the National Security Agency's security requirements, the recipients' names are not released.
