Softball: East Hall, Cherokee Bluff stay unbeaten in Region 7-3A

DAHLONEGA — Lumpkin County was in control until the fifth inning.

After falling behind 7-3 after three innings, the East Hall hammered out 10 runs to beat Lumpkin, 13-8, in Region 7-3A play. The win kep the Lady Vikings (5-1, 3-0 Region 7-3A) atop the region standings one-half game ahead of Cherokee Bluff.

Carley Cox's double in the fifth inning propelled the Vikings to the lead for good, scoring three runs to go up 9-7. Cox was 2-for-5 with three RBIs.

Abigail Brown stayed hot in the batter's box all day, going 3-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs.

Macy Banks picked up the win, surrendering eight runs on 10 hits, striking out seven in the complete-game performance.  

East Hall travels to North Forsyth on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

The Lady Bears continue to roll early on in the season.

Isabelle Herren tossed a no-hitter and allowed one unearned run to lead the Lady Bears to a Region 7-3A victory on the road Tuesday.

The win helped Cherokee Bluff (6-0, 2-0 Region 7-3A) keep pace with East Hall as the only unbeaten teams left in region play. The Lady Bears trail East Hall  (5-1, 3-0 Region 7-3A) by one-half game.

Herren went the distance walking just two and fanning 14 Lady Rebels (1-8, 0-2 Region 7-3A) to get the win.

Cherokee Bluff also pounded out 11 hits with Faith Burgamy collecting three hits, including a double, on the day. Michaela Ragone had two hits and an RBI and Herren also had two hits for the Lady Bears.

Cherokee Bluff will play host to Dawson County in another region battle on Thursday.
