Softball: Banks' Denton strikes out 21 in win; EHall tops Dawson in 7-3A; Buford wins in Hawk/Bulldog

JEFFERSON — Tybee Denton held a pitching and hitting clinic Thursday night in a 9-0 win over Jefferson.

Denton not only pitched a complete-game shutout, striking out 21 and allowing one hit, she also was 4-for-4 at the plate with two home runs, a double and a single. She also racked up four RBIs. 

Freshman Jacy Ayers went 2-for-3 with and RBI and Madison Cronic, Kya Santiago, Jewels Ayers and Jill Martinet recorded a hit and an RBI. Brookely Lewis also added a hit.

The Lady Vikings cruised to a 14-2 Region 7-3A win over Dawson County on Thursday.   sailed to an easy victory over Dawson County 14-2 on Thursday

East Hall opened the first inning scoring with Macy Banks smashing a 1-1 count. 

In the third, Alexis Burce and Abigail Brown belted doubles and Callie Hardison had a single, scoring six runs to blow the game open. 

Hardison picked up the win in the circle, allowing two hits and one run over four innings while striking out six.

The Lady Vikings hammered out 16 hits with Gracie Ausborn, Banks, Brown, Callie Dale, Carley Cox and Hardison each scoring multiple hits. Banks and Ausborn led the team with three hits each.

SOUTH FORSYTH 2

The Lady Wolves used a five-run second inning to take the lead en route to a non-region win Thursday in a Hawk/Bulldog tournament game played at the University of North Georgia.

Kara Taylor and senior Ansleigh Hollifield each had big RBI hits in the inning. That would be all the offense Hollifield needed in the circle.

The senior went five innings scattering five hits and allowed just one run while striking out 10. Hollifield also finished with two hits on the day at the plate.

Senior Anabel Adams, Taylor, and senior Adi English all had one hit and one RBI for Buford.

The Lady Wolves will continue play in the Hawk/Bulldog tournament on Saturday at North Gwinnett high school taking on Evans at 9 a.m. and North Gwinnett at 1 p.m.
