GAINESVILLE — Banks County stayed unbeaten on the season with a dramatic 3-2, walk-off victory over East Hall Monday in Homer

Senior Jill Martinet singled on a 3-2 count with the bases loaded to drive in the winning run in the bottom of the ninth.

It was a pitcher's duel throughout between Banks County's Tybee Denton and East Hall's Macy Banks.

Denton, a senior, struck out 15 and scattered five hits in a complete-game win. Banks went eight-plus innings allowing three runs on eight hits and struck out five for East Hall.

Banks County (3-0) led 2-0 going into the seventh inning when the Lady Vikings' Abigail Brown smashed a two-run home run to tie the game eventually sending it to extra innings. It stayed that way until the ninth as both Denton and Banks dueled in the circle.

Brown led East Hall (2-1) with two hits.

Junior Madison Cronic had two hits for Banks County. Martinet and freshman Kylee Brooks also had two hits for the Lady Leopards.

All three of East Hall's contests so far have been one-run affairs.

Banks County will play host to Commerce on Tuesday. East Hall will play host to Greater Atlanta Christian on Tuesday as both teams open up Region 7-3A play.

Cherokee Bluff improved to 2-0 on the young softball season after taking an 11-3 road victory over Gainesville on Monday.

The Lady Bears pounded out 12 hits behind the pitching of Isabelle Herren, who got the win in the circle.

Kristina Schwab had a huge day at the plate for Cherokee Bluff with three doubles and one RBI to lead the offense. Emma Anzaldi had two hits and three RBI and Lauren Rule and Herren each had two hits and one RBI. Stephanie Condland belted a solo home run for the Lady Bears.

Cherokee will travel to Lanier on Wednesday while Gainesville (1-5) will travel to Apalachee on Thursday to open Region 8-6A play.
