The Hall County Animal Shelter is looking for county residents who love animals and have a little extra time and space in their homes to be part of their foster program.
The Shelter provides the pet and the necessary supplies at no cost to the foster pet parent, allowing the foster and the pet to work on socialization skills and get the pet adoption ready, according to press information from the Hall County Government.
"It's really a win-win for everyone. The animal gets to spend some time in a loving home, the foster gets to love on a four-legged friend, and Shelter staff have a little extra space for other animals in need," said Stephanie List, Hall County Animal Services Program Coordinator.
Foster pets are matched with foster pet parents that fit their lifestyles, space, and family situations, the information said, and applicants are subject to a background check and home inspection. Fosters can vary from bottle-fed kittens, to senior dogs looking to snuggle, to everything in between.
List said there are currently about 20 fosters in the program. "But ideally, we'd like to have about 100 homes participating."
