For Chase Elliott, Sunday was second verse, same as the first.
One year after scoring his first career Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race on the Watkins Glen International road course, Elliott again out-dueled Martin Truex, Jr. to score his second straight WGI victory on Sunday.
On this week's edition of the Hard Left Turn podcast, Brandon Reed, Pete McCole and Amy Henderson reviews the twists and turns from Sunday's race at The Glen, including:
-Elliott dominated Sunday's race, leading all but 10 laps, but Truex, Jr. made him work for it, hounding him through the final segment of the race. In the end, Elliott prevailed for the win.
-Darrell Wallace, Jr. and Kyle Busch may have lit the fuse on a future rivalry, as Busch dumped Wallace at one point, only to have the favor returned later in the race.
-Jimmie Johnson and Ryan Blaney also had a dust-up on track that left Johnson very angry afterwards.
-Matt DiBenedetto continues to impress in the No. 95 Toyota, scoring a sixth place finish on Sunday.
-And we preview this weekend's NASCAR Xfinty Series action at Mid-Ohio and the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at Michigan.
