Pedestrian dies after being hit by car in Gainesville

A pedestrian who was stuck by a car in the area of E.E. Butler Parkway and College Avenue has died of his injuries, Gainesville police said Friday morning.

The man was walking in the area and entered the road near the intersection when he was struck by a blue Toyota Camry, driven by a 17-year-old driver.

The man was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center with serious injuries. He was pronounced dead at the hospital. He was not immediately identified, pending notification of his family.

The teenaged driver will not be charged in the accident and was not identified by police. The accident occurred about 8:45 p.m.

The investigation is continuing. Police ask that anyone with information about the incident call (770) 534-5252.
