*Updated design plans for Forsyth County's Eagle's Beak Park will be presented at the next county parks and recreation board meeting on Aug. 7 at 7:00 p.m. at the Fowler Park Recreation Center.

*Meena A. Demtrios, M.D., recently joined Longstreet Clinic Obstetrics & Gynecology. His primary location will be in Gainesville, but he will also see patients at Longstreet offices in Braselton and Baldwin.

*The Players Guild at Sugar Hill begins its second season at the Eagle Theatre in Sugar Hill August 16 with a production of “Calendar Girls,” a cancer research fundraiser.  Tickets are available at www.pgatsh.com or  www.eagleatsugarhill.com.  The cast has also produced a calendar which is available for sale. 

*The Gwinnett County Police Department is accepting applications for the next Citizen’s Police Academy, which will be held September 3-October 24 on Tuesday and Thursday nights 6:30-8:30.  For more information, contact Cpl. Collin Flynn at [email protected].

*White County Probate Judge Garrison Baker has been reappointed to the Board of Commissioners of the Judges of the Probate Courts Retirement Fund of Georgia.  The appointment was made by Gov. Brian Kemp.

*Dr. Jody Whisenant has joined Gainesville Eye Associates, which includes Jack M. Chapman, Jr., M.D., Clayton G. Blehm, M.D., Lori C. Lebow, M.D., Zach R. Balest, M.D., Stephen S. Ellison, O.D., and Elizabeth F. Ellison, O.D. 

*Construction activity for the I-85 Widening project will require lane closures next week along the corridor in Gwinnett, Barrow, and Jackson counties.

*Dr. Nicholas Drahush of Chattahoochee Surgical Group, a Northside Hospital Forsyth Network Provider, has become the only physician in the Forsyth area to become certified in the use of the LINX System to treat patients with chronic Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease.

*Gary Aaron of Clermont is a new member of the American Angus Association.
