Cumming has a new police chief but he's no stranger to the community.

David Marsh is a recently-retired veteran of the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office.

Marsh was sworn in by Mayor Troy Brumbalow at a recent city council meeting.

His law enforcement experience includes serving as a jail and uniform patrol deputy with the sheriff's office, Federal Drug Task Force and Criminal Investigations, Internal Affairs and Training, and supervisor of the Johns Creek/Alpharetta/Forsyth Narcotics Task Force.
