Forsyth County elected officials will formally break ground next week for a new Fire Station #11 on Pittman Road in the southwest part of the county.

The Forsyth County Fire Department, Forsyth County Board of Commissioners, Croft & Associates, and Cooper & Company General Contractors, Inc. will take part in the ceremony on Tuesday, August 6 at 10 a.m.

The new 12,000 square foot fire station will feature four bays, according to county officials.

"We look forward to having our friends from Forsyth County join us at the groundbreaking ceremony for this new facility. Anytime we can help contribute to our own community is a privilege. Not only will it benefit the residents of Forsyth County, but many of our staff will directly benefit from this new station’s services,” said Steve Cooper, President of Cooper & Company General Contractors, Inc. in a recent press statement.

"This is a win-win for us,” said Jim Cooper, vice-president of Cooper & Company General Contractors, Inc. “We’ll work hard to ensure this station is one that the county can be proud of on the day we celebrate the grand opening.”

The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners approved the design for this project last year. Construction contracted through Cooper & Company General Contractors is expected to be completed by summer 2020.
