Hall County Emergency Management will be hosting a “Weather Radio Give-A-Way” on Tuesday, July 23rd at the Mulberry Creek Park and Community Center from 3 PM until 6 PM.
With peak activity of the 2019 Hurricane Season quickly approaching, Hall County Emergency Management wants to ensure that residents have the appropriate tools available to warn them of severe weather.
“While Hall County does not typically see direct impacts of hurricanes we do see the indirect effects of the outer storm bands that are associated with them”, says Casey Ramsey, Director of Emergency Management. “These outer bands can contain strong to severe storms that often result in strong winds and tornados.”
Hall County Emergency Management officials encourage and recommend that citizens have at least two ways to be notified of severe or inclement weather. “The best way to ensure you are properly notified is to have a NOAA Weather Radio and also sign up to receive weather notifications from our Citizen Alert program.” You can visit alerts.hallcounty.org to do so.
The NOAA Weather Radios are provided free of cost and are available to the first 100 Hall County residents that arrive at the community center. There will be other opportunities to pick up a free weather radio in the coming months if citizens are not able to attend on Tuesday.
The Mulberry Creek Community Center is located at 4491 J M Turk Rd, Flowery Branch, GA 30542.
