Father and son now both dead from Lake Lanier incident

A father and son have now both died following an incident on Lake Lanier a week ago. 

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources is reporting Libao Chen, 30, Hoschton died Thursday, July 18 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center. 

His son, Ethen Chen died Wednesday at Children's Healthcare Atlanta. 

Both were involved in what was called a near drowning incident at Lake Lanier Islands on July 11. 

In that incident, it was reported the younger Chen went under the surface of the water and the father attempted to save him. When firefighters arrived, both were being given CPR. 

The two were first taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, the younger Chen was then flown to Children's Healthcare.
