Northeast Georgia Medical Center’s Inpatient Rehabilitation Program has been awarded a three-year accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities International. That is the highest level of accreditation CARF can give an organization.
“We are proud to have been accredited by CARF since 1991,” said Kevin Gohman, NGMC’s Director of Inpatient Rehabilitation Services. “This recognition demonstrates our employees’ commitment to providing high-quality, compassionate care.”
Accreditation is based on more than 2,000 international standards related to business and employment practices, leadership standards, commitment to quality improvement and focus on the unique needs of each patient. An organization receiving a three-year accreditation has put itself through a peer-review process, including an on-site surveyor visit to determine if the programs and services offered are measurable, accountable and of the highest quality.
“This reaccreditation reflects what the Inpatient Rehabilitation staff does on a daily basis and demonstrates their commitment to the patients and families we serve,” said Dr. Holmes Marchman, a physician with Longstreet Clinic Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and medical director of Inpatient Rehabilitation Services for NGMC. “Our ultimate goal is to meet the needs of our patients so they can become as independent as possible for a safe return to home.”
CARF is an independent, nonprofit accrediting body with a mission to promote the quality, value and optimal outcomes of services through a consultative accreditation process that centers on enhancing the lives of the persons served. Founded in 1966, the accrediting body establishes consumer-focused standards to help organizations measure and improve the quality of their programs and services.
