The Hall County Sheriff Office has released more information about a Tuesday dog attack that killed a 22-day-old girl.

Lt. Chris Dale said fire personnel and deputies responded to a home on Gillsville Highway just before 2 p.m. When authorities arrived, they found the infant had been bitten in the head by the family dog.

Dale said the baby girl was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center where she succumbed to her injuries.

The dog is said to be a Husky mix and Dale said the dog had no apparent history of violence. He added investigators are unclear what occurrence might have happened to change the dog's behavior.

The dog has been turned over to Hall County Animal Control, which is doing a joint investigation with the sheriff's office.

The name of the infant has not been released, pending notification of relatives.
