ATLANTA — Atlanta United returns to action Sunday afternoon when it hosts New York Red Bulls at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

The 2 p.m. match will air on FOX immediately following the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup Final.

Atlanta and New York enter the match separated by two points in the Eastern Conference standings and sit in fourth and sixth place, respectively. Atlanta will be searching for its first-ever win over New York in regular season MLS play (0-4-1), as the two teams face each other at Mercedes-Benz Stadium for the first time since Atlanta defeated New York 3-1 on aggregate in the 2018 Eastern Conference Final.

This will be the sixth consecutive matchup between the two Eastern Conference rivals to be broadcast on national television and Atlanta is 2-0-3 all-time in matches aired on FOX.

Atlanta will look to extend its six-game winning streak at Mercedes-Benz Stadium following Wednesday’s 5-1 loss at Chicago Fire. Atlanta is 4-1-1 in 2019 in MLS play following a loss and is 6-1-2 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

New York is coming off its worst defeat of the season in a 4-0 loss at Houston on Wednesday, July 3, which is the first time Red Bulls have lost by more than one goal this season. New York is 3-2-1 this season following a loss in league play and owns a 2-4-2 away record.
