DNR: No plans to relocate bears in Gwinnett County

Posted 11:09PM on Thursday 4th July 2019 ( 4 years ago )

Over the past few weeks there have been at least two sightings of a North American black bear in Gwinnett County.

The first being a bear being stuck by a car in Norcross, then a bear was seen in Duluth.

Some are asking why bears that far south are not being relocated.

Georgia Department of Natural Resources spokeswoman Melissa Cummings says it is always best to leave a bear alone and allow them to relocate themselves. DNR steps in when the bear becomes a danger to people or property.
