Police ID teen shot at gas station in Buford

A 15-year-old boy was shot and killed just after midnight at a gas station on Thompson Mill Road in Buford.

Gwinnett County Police Department investigators said Branden Gerena was shot in the head. He was taken to a local hospital where he died from his injuries. 

Detectives said Gerena and his friend were at the gas station when they were approached by a black male in his 20s. The suspect pulled a gun and fired a shot, hitting Gerena.

The suspect is described as a black male in his 20s wearing blue jeans, a black jacket with red lettering, and a backwards baseball hat. 

The suspect’s identity is unknown and his motive has not yet been determined.

Authorities ask anyone with any information to share in the case to contact GCPD detectives at 770-513-5300.  To remain anonymous, tipsters should contact Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS (8477).
