Alex Bowman has been knocking on the door for quite a while now, just waiting on the opportunity to walk through it.

On Sunday, that chance finally came, as he scored first first career Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at Chicagoland Speedway.

Brandon Reed and Pete McCole (Amy Henderson is STILL away on assignment) has a look at Bowman's run to victory at the Joliet, Illinois raceway, including:

-Bowman not only won, but he also edged out Kyle Larson over the closing laps to take home the victory.

-Larson, on the other hand, came oh-so-close to winning in an event he lost last year in a last lap battle to Kyle Busch.

-Kevin Harvick dominated the first two segments of Sunday's race, only to see a chance to win go away with contact with the wall.

-Kyle Busch had a bad day on Sunday.  He hit the wall, cut a tire and his car was full of smoke.  What more is there to say?

-Plus, we preview this weekend's Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series and Xfinity Series races at Daytona International Speedway.
