Posted 9:30PM on Wednesday 26th June 2019 ( 5 years ago )

Gainesville Police are warning of a scam that is going around that could cost you thousands of dollars.

The department said bogus property owners have been copying real estate listing and re-posting on Zillow, Trulia and other sites.

Then when people make a bid they request a payment be wired. After that is complete, the people cut off all contact. Leaving you with no property and no recourse.

They advise you always make sure you are dealing with an actual homeowner or legitimate real estate company.
