Area players not able to crack top 10 in tough GSGA Junior Championship field

AUGUSTA — Blairsville's Beck Burnette and Gainesville's Ryan Davidson tied for 11th Tuesday after the final round of the GSGA Junior Championship at the Augusta Country Club.

Burnett, a Lee University-signee, shot a 1-over 73 while Davidson, a Gainesville High standout, fired an even-par 72 to both finish at 2-under 142, which was six shots behind co-winners Brock Hoover of Woodstock and Johns Creek's Bruce Murphy, who finished at 8-under 136.

Meanwhile, another Gainesville standout, Andrew Hughes, closed out his two rounds with a 1-under 71 on Tuesday to finished at 3-over 147 and tied for 44th.

The Red Elephants' Sam Patterson finished in a tie for 89th after shooting a second consecutive 76 to finish at 152 for the tournament.
