Drought conditions could soon be creeping into Northeast Georgia

Posted 5:00PM on Sunday 16th June 2019 ( 4 years ago )
The Northeast Georgia region has had a bit of rain lately, but WDUN meteorologist John Weaterbee says we have not gotten enough and are bordering on being in a drought.

He said the forecast does not look good for avoiding coming drought like conditions.

"There is rain in the forecast," Weatherbee said. "But not a lot of rain, not enough rain."

Weatherbee said that due to below average rain Red Flag fire warnings are already being posted south of Metro Atlanta.

"That's expected to expand in our direction into the Northeast Georgia mountains and Hall County," Weatherbee said.

Our area is considered Abnormally Dry and will likely only intensify as the temperatures continue to rise this summer.
