Martha Zoller returns to WDUN for political talk show

Posted 5:00PM on Wednesday 12th June 2019 ( 4 years ago )

Martha Zoller is bringing her unique style of political talk back to WDUN, starting later this month.

The longtime conservative pundit and political analyst will take over WDUN’s popular morning political talk show, which will be rebranded as “Morning Talk with Martha Zoller,” starting June 24. The show airs weekdays at 9 a.m.

“After spending the last few years traveling around Georgia and meeting Georgians from every walk of life and political persuasion, I’m excited to be back at WDUN to share how the sausage is made,” Zoller said. “You might be surprised at some of the insights. I can’t wait!”

Zoller’s show was a regular fixture on the WDUN lineup, until she left in 2009. In 2014, she went to work in politics, first with U.S. Sen. David Perdue and later for Gov. Brian Kemp, where she worked as a policy advisor and outreach director.

Bill Maine, WDUN’s executive vice president and general manager, said he’s wanted to bring Martha back for a while.

“She’s uniquely qualified as a broadcaster,” Maine said. “She’s well connected, knowledgeable, and her show mattered both to the listeners and politicians she talked about. I’m thrilled we’re getting her back on the air, and I think the audience will be, too.”

Zoller began her talk radio career in 1994 after being a regular caller to WDUN. Her first call to the station was prompted by Hillary Clinton’s lament that “she could have stayed at home and baked cookies.” She hosted “The Martha Zoller Show” until 2009. In 1997, Martha won a GABBY for Best Locally Produced Talk Show in Georgia from the Georgia Association of Broadcasters.

After leaving WDUN, Zoller joined the Cox Radio group for four years, then joined WGAU in Athens as co-host of “Zoller and Bryant” with Tim Bryant.

For eight years from 2005-2014, Zoller was named to the “Heavy Hundred” Talk Shows Hosts in America by Talkers Magazine. For three straight years, she was one of James magazine’s Most Influential Georgians and in 2005, she was named one of the most influential members of the media by Georgia Trend. For a decade, she appeared regularly on Fox 5’s “The Georgia Gang,” and she has appearanced on CNN, Fox News and MSNBC.

Her first book, “Indivisible: Uniting Values in a Divided America,” was released in 2005 from Stroud and Hall Publishers. From 1996 to 2001, Martha hosted the award-winning public affairs program, “The Brenau News Forum.”

Zoller attended the Joint Civilian Orientation Conference, the Department of Defense’s oldest civilian training program, and traveled to Iraq in 2005 and 2007 to cover the global war on terror.

In 2012, she left talk radio to try her hand at politics, running for the 9th Congressional District. She made the runoff but lost to Doug Collins.

In 2013, she launched zpolitics.com as editor in chief and hosted Georgia's Morning News for the Georgia News Network.

She lives in Gainesville with her husband, Dr. Lin Zoller, and has 4 grown children and 4 grandchildren. Martha attends Gainesville First United Methodist Church.

“Morning Talk with Martha Zoller” will be heard weekdays at 9 a.m. on WDUN AM550 and WDUN FM102.9, and it will be streamed live on WDUN.com, AccessWDUN.com and WDUN’s streaming apps, available in the Apple and Android stores.
