A Popeye’s restaurant is planned on Winder Highway in Oakwood, near Walden apartments.
Oakwood City Council members unanimously agreed on the site plan from Capital Growth Buckwalter/Popeye’s Plan Development Site Plan. It is located on 1.305 acres at 3474 Winder Highway.
"It'll be located right in front of the Walden apartments on Winder Highway, as you turn in on Cedar Ridge Drive, it'll be right there on the right, right there on the corner," said Brown.
Since there was no annexation needed, council voted on the site plan. It is also part of the Winder Highway District Corridor Overlay.
"They're real close to getting their plans approved for permitting, probably within the next month. We don't know what their schedule is but they should have approval sometime later this month or early next month," Brown said.
In addition, council approved the first reading for zoning and annexation of 0.656 acres at 3481 Atlanta Highway for an office building, specifically a dental office, proposed by Danny Gilleland.
