Republican State Senator Renee Unterman of Buford has invited her constituents to join her Thursday, June 6 on the Buford Town Square to hear about her plans for 2020.
In a Facebook post, Unterman said she will have a discussion on "kitchen table issues."
While Unterman was not specific about the discussion, the Atlanta Journal Constitution is reporting she will announce a run for Congress, joining a crowded field of Republicans and Democrats who want to represent Georgia's 7th District. So far, five Democrats have announced intentions to run, while two Republicans have tossed their hats into the ring.
The post is currently held by Republican Rob Woodall, who won re-election by a narrow margin last November; Woodall has said he will not run for the office again.
Unterman has represented the 45th District in the State Senate since 2003. Prior to her stint as a senator, she was a member of Georgia's House of Representatives.
According to the social media post, Unterman will meet with constituents at 7:30 p.m. in the park in front of the Bona Allen Mansion at 345 N. Main Street in Buford.
