STATE GOLF: North Hall girls in 2nd in 3A after Day 1

ELBERTON — The North Hall girls sit in second place, just seven strokes back, after the first day of the Class 3A state tournament Monday at Arrowhead Pointe Golf Course.

The Lady Trojans fired a 258 and are behind leader Pierce County, who shot a 251. North Hall came into the tournament with the lowest qualifying score after the Area tournament.

Mikayla Dubnik led the way for the Lady Trojans with a 5-over par 77. The sophomore is tied for third with Rutland's Eujin Pyon. Both are five shots behind Murray County's Tori Owens, who posted an even-par 72.

Lyric Sanford shot a 90 and Annika Cain had a 91 for North Hall.

Cain will tee off at 7:18 a.m. while Dubnik and Sanford will begin at 9:06 on Tuesday for North Hall.
