A springtime heat wave that began in our area and other parts of the state this weekend is expected to tighten its grip on Georgia through the week.
The National Weather Service says some record-breaking temperatures for this time of year are possible. Daytime highs by the end of the week are predicted to reach into the low 90s in Gainesville and the mid-90s in middle Georgia - and the upper 90s in parts of south Georgia.
And, right now, it appears Memorial Day weekend and Memorial Day will be more of the same.
The website for the NWS in Peachtree City has some tips for "staying safe in the heat."
