Oakwood City Council approves budget amendment for building inspections, code enforcement

Posted 10:00AM on Saturday 18th May 2019 ( 4 years ago )
Oakwood City Council members have voted for a resolution to create a new position for both a building inspector and code enforcement officer.

The resolution was to amend the FY2019 budget to create the position.

"We had previously had one of our police officers serving as code enforcement, and he retired," said City Manager Stan Brown after Monday's meeting. "We have since then kind of re-evaluated that position whether it belonged in the police department or over in community development."

Brown said they decided a joint position would be the best fit, calling the role the Building Inspector/Code Enforcement Officer.

"Since most of it is going to be with community development, permitting, zoning-type issues, so that person could also help doing some building inspections too," Brown said.

The resolution was approved unanimously.
