Gwinnett County Police Department detectives are looking for a woman who stole a wallet from a restaurant patrol in Buford and used the victim's credit cards to purchase thousands of dollars of items.

A Gwinnett County PD police report indicated the incident happened Wednesday, May 8 at the Bonefish Grill at 3420 Buford Drive.

The victim told police she had hung her purse on the back of her chair, and as she was eating, she began receiving multiple fraud alert messages on her phone. When she checked her purse, she noticed her wallet was missing along with a credit union checkbook.

After determining some $3,000 worth of fraudulent charges had been made on two transaction cards, the victim contacted police. The charges were made at a Kroger store on Hamilton Mill Road, and Gwinnett detectives were able to obtain surveillance photos from the store.

The victim also told police she had written a $2,000 check that was still in the credit union checkbook. Detectives did not know if the suspect attempted to cash the check.

The victim said she had $300 worth of gift cards in her wallet; the wallet itself - a Louis Vuitton - was valued at more than $700.

Police are asking anyone who has any information to share in the case to contact GCPD detectives at 770-513-5300.  To remain anonymous, tipsters should contact Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS (8477) The case number is 19-041669.
