New signs are being erected along the Highlands to Islands Trail, which stretches from Gainesville to Chicopee Woods and beyond.

The trail starts at Longwood Park in Gainesville with the Rock Creek Greenway, continues through the Downtown Square and over Jesse Jewell Parkway via the pedestrian bridge, through the Midtown Greenway, and to the University of North Georgia Gainesville campus in Oakwood.

The City of Gainesville recently installed signs along the trail and is seeking a contractor to construct the Palmour Drive connection. Construction is scheduled to be completed this year.
