Four people, including a17-month-old girl, remained in the hospital Thursday afternoon following an early morning, single-vehicle crash on Interstate 985 south of Mundy Mill Road, investigators for the Hall County Sheriff’s Office said..
Three other children in the SUV have been released from the hospital.
A southbound 2000 Chevrolet Suburban, driven by 26-year-old Demesha Tanner had a tire failure and overturned twice before coming to rest in the southbound lanes. The accident occurred at about 6:46 a.m. near the Plainview Road bridge, south of Exit 16, investigators said.
During the accident, 31-year-old Kelvin Langston and one of the children was ejected from the SUV and were injured. The other five occupants remained in the vehicle and also were injured.
Hall County Fire Services transported the injured to area hospitals. Two of the children were taken to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. The other three children and both adults were taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
The sheriff’s department said all seven people are members of the same family. Tanner is reportedly in serious condition and Langston is in stable condition. The 17-month-old girl and a 7-year-old boy are also in stable condition. A 9-year-old girl, a 4-year-old boy and a 3-year-old boy have all been released from the hospital.
The accident remains under investigation by the Hall County Sheriff’s Office Accident Investigation Unit.
